Mario Alfredo Álvarez
Villegas, from
El Salvador, studied acting at the National Center for the Arts in El
Salvador (2003-06), becoming an exchange student at the University of
Massachusetts and at the Advanced School of Arts in Havana, Cuba. He
broadened his interests to all aspects of theater at the World Festival of
Youth and Students in Caracas, Venezuela. At the Spanish Cultural Center in
El Salvador he was trained in the ‘use of theatrical space’. He also
participated as actor and production assistant at the National Showcase of
Salvadorian Theater 2006, where he defended his graduation thesis with the
play The Spoon by Spaniard Salvador Enríquez. He joined the Studio
Theater of San Salvador (Hemón) during the creative process of Thebes,
the Memory of Silence, a play chosen to represent their country at the
International Festival of Theater of San Salvador in 2008. Recently he has
taken part in a Teatro de la Luna playreading. |
