Playreading: Monday, August 24 - 6:30pm

Workshops are held in Spanish and are designed to provide professional quality, public readings of current and recent Spanish-language plays.

They focus on training actors in text interpretation and analysis and are open to adults and teens 16 and over. Prior theatrical experience is not necessary.

A man and a woman meet in a dessert. Submerged completely in their own destinies they find it impossible to connect. Only an imaginary proposal allows them to free themselves and fulfill their desires. However, they keep obstinately returning to reality and live for ever imprisoned in themselves.

Through the Experience Theater program, this event is dedicated to promoting the beauty of the Spanish language and awakening our young people’s interest in poetry and literature. Students recite original poems or those of their favorite poets in Spanish.

Teatro de la Luna and the Lao Heritage Foundation are teaming up – and the result is an extraordinary cross-cultural fusion. Immerse yourself for an afternoon in the music, dance, theater and food of Laos and Latin America at the same time you help these two nonprofit organizations preserve cultures through the arts. This family-friendly fundraiser features a dynamic mix of entertainment, including Panamanian singer Monalisa Arias, native Washingtonian musician Mauricio Alexander and crossover performer Alex San Dinero, the mastermind behind "laoggaeton," blending Laotian music and a Latin beat.

Please join us for this very special event, which also features performances by our students.
